Permanent Strainer Overview
Permanent strainers must remain in the process long enough to cope with the on-going filtration of large particles.
In most plants, permanent strainers are normally installed in pairs, so that one is always in service
Single isolation valves enable the removal of the affected clogged strainer for washing/ re-meshing.
One of the advantage of using basket strainer is that they can provide a bigger dirt holding capacity, and can have easier access for the removal the dirt. Normally they have a higher pressure drop than Y-strainers.
